Why I do what I do

This is what gets me up in the mornings and gets me in the sewing room to quilt. This little girl live in the orphanage in Kazakhstan. Here she is celebrating her 12th birthday. She is too old to be adoptable so will spend the rest of her childhood in the orphanage.
We have sent 15 quilts so far and they need 30 to be able to pass them out to the children. The directors don't want some children to have quilts and others to not have quilts. Of course, I like kids to have a choice, so I'd like to throw another 5 or so in there so each child can pick a quilt for his/her very own. These pictures are just the motivation I needed to get me back to binding today.
I'm reminded of this verse as I work on those last 20 quilts today while waiting for my new sewing machine to arrive.
James 1:27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.James 1:26-27
I got the email saying they were shipping the sewing machine today, which means it should be here on Wednesday. If I get all of these quilts bound by Wednesday, I can start quilting all the tops. I need to add to the list of tops ready to quilt on the sidebar. Watch for that update later today =)

This little girl and all her orphanage brothers and sisters will have a brighter time with these quilts...I can imagine the day they each get to pick one. What a wonderful calling for you, God bless!
