am I abnormal? wait, don't answer that

I was at the quilt shop on Friday, picking out the fabrics for this quilt for my mother in law.  There was a lady waiting to pick up her quilt from the quilter.  When the quilter brought it in, everyone oohed and aahed over the quilt, as we always do because it was pretty neat.  It was a scene of a tractor pulling a wagon with a dog in it.  There were rolling hills and hot air balloons in the sky and a little school house.  The lady explained that this was for one of her many cousins who was popping out babies like crazy.  She said she didn't really like kids so she knew if she made a quilt, she wouldn't have to go and "see the baby".  Then she said the quilt had only taken her two weeks to make.  TWO WEEKS!  Can you imagine, it only took me two weeks to make this quilt?  Everyone thought that was just impossible to make a quilt in only two weeks.  I thought, wow, it took you two weeks to make a baby quilt?

How long does it take you to make a quilt?  I bought the fabric for this on Friday and started cutting it out Friday night.  I sewed a bit Saturday and will finish it up today.  That's less than 48 hours to make a big person quilt.  I can make a baby quilt in 2 hours.  I think I would die if I had to take 2 weeks to make a baby quilt.  With all of the fabric I have around here it would take me 2 thousand years to use it all up if I only made a baby quilt every 2 weeks.

Plus, there are over 2 million quilt patterns out there.  I want to make them all.  I'm not going to live forever.  I don't have time to waste!

For me, 2 weeks is 2 long :)

This one just needs borders, quilting and binding and it will be ready to gift.  (please don't look at the laundry in the background or the fact that one of my sweat pant legs is up and the other down...that might help you answer the abnormal question at the top of this post)

I'm amazed at your productivity! Especially since you work full time as well!

I only teach half days twice a week and I might get two or three quilts A YEAR done.

I do have 4 young girls, 11 and under, but still.

You rock! What's the secret? :)
