4 glorious days

Thank you Veterans! In honor of the 4 days off because of the sacrifices you made serving our country, I am going to be working on some Quilts of Valor this weekend.

Alycia, at http://alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/ is having a quilt along. She is on step 3, but it isn't too late to catch up. She is making a QOV Rail fence quilt.
I'm a teeny bit ahead, because I've already cut my strips and sewn them together.
In fact, I'm going to make another one today and then another and another! I have a lot of 2 1/2 inch strips cut already and not quite as many 1 1/2 inch strips. I'm going to try to make a scrappy one and see how I like that one too.
I have a friend locally who is very involved with the local Veterans. I'm going to be finishing up these quilts for her and letting her do whatever she wants with them. She visits all of the wounded soldiers as they come through Travis Air Force Base on their way home. A couple of years ago, I made about 100 Christmas stockings and she filled them up with goodies like socks and candy and gave them to all of the people at the hospital for Christmas.
I'm also going to try and finish up all of the Christmas stockings I have started. I don't think there are 100 of them, but pretty close. They are in all stages of production around here and they need to get done NOW, so they can get in the mail, maybe even tomorrow :)
Well, off this computer and off to work! Yay! I love vacations.
