my grandmother's quilt

This quilt was made by my dad's mother, my grandmother.  It was made from old clothing, coats and dresses that were worn out and no good for wearing anymore.  I love the oldness and well worn and loved bits that are tattered parts.  It is tied together with string and there is cotton inside.  It is heavy and scratchy and oh so beautiful.  I told my dad that I want this quilt when he is ready to part with it.

I have several of my great-grandmother's quilts - they are treasures!! Even the one made from feed sacks that has a wool blanket inside for batting (yes, it is falling apart so the blanket is very visible!!!),
