Drum major camp

My older son is off at Drum major camp since Thursday. I go and pick him up this morning. I've had a rough time missing him.
He has been having a lot of fun. He was very excited to have made drum major for his 8th grade year. When they were having tryouts at school, he ordered his own mace so he could practice at home with the money he had been saving from doing his chores. Maces are not inexpensive things. He practiced for hours in the backyard.
When it was announced that he was drum major all of the girls in the band came up and gave him hugs. Then, I understood why he wanted to be drum major so badly!!!
I get to watch him this morning performing for the last awards ceremony and judging. I just hope I don't make him too nervous!
