Migraines and Fish Oil?

My migraines haven't been so bad since I started taking Fish Oil again. I ran out a few months ago, could it be around October, when my migraines started up really bad? I didn't think there was a connection between the fish oil and migraines, but then started taking the fish oil about 2 weeks ago and haven't had a bad migraine since.

I did a google search and there are some studies to show there is a connection between the two.

Hmmm. The science teacher in me wants to stop taking the fish oil and see if the migraines come back, but I don't want the migraines to come back so I'm going to count my blessings, talk to the neurologist in a week and a half and see what he thinks.

I've been doing a lot of reading lately about the benefits of Omega 3s (eg fish oil) and having the correct balance with Omega 6s. It seems there is little that isn't improved by increasing the 3s and decreasing the 6s!!! Hope that the fish oil is the cause of your reduced migraines as it is an easy thing to keep going with :)

if you eat at school--does their menu rotate on a regular basis? One relative found her migraines tied very closely to the meals--lots of MSG. At home, home made smoked sausage and pickles. The sausage ends up with MSG, and the pickles are fermented and not pastaurized after the fermentation.

I have cut msg (as much as possible) foods like prepared sandwich meat etc. no homecanned pickles or homemade sausage.

Other triggers---flickering fluorescent lights, lights in gyms. Lights over bodies of water, driving into glaring sun.

Any cheese that is not pasteurized (that leaves out like bleu cheese salad dressing, sharp cheese, etc) Pizza has lots of msg.

A strange thing that can trigger a migraine--a COUGH!

Regular sleep time--migraine sufferers cannot do rotating shifts very well.

And stranger--no tequila. No wine, especially red wine. No vodka.

But I can drink other stuff. Beer. bourbon But wines have been fermented.

monthly women stuff. AARRRGGH! Since I have had a total hysterectomy--big relief. My sister had the same result. Less headaches.

With these changes--I went from headache after headache--often2-3-4 a week, to maybe one really bad one a year. Smaller ones that are miserable, but I can take narcotics and rest. The bad kind were at least every week or so. Draining.
