I don't know about you, but when I enter a contest, I like it to be fair. I knew going in, there were probably going to be issues with the block design contest, but for whatever reason, figured this year I'd enter and give it a shot anyways.
I LOVE Accuquilt and the products they produce, but really think they should stop having contests because they really suck at running them. Every time they have a contest, they can't get their website to run right. Their website crashes because of too much traffic, or people find a way to beat the system and vote more than they should or people can't register or can't vote and the contest isn't fair.
Then, what kind of a contest is it if people don't feel like they have a fair chance of winning?
The block design contest is supposed to be the best block wins. Well, if you take a look at the blocks with the most votes, you can tell that the best blocks aren't the ones with the most votes. Some of the top vote getters aren't even blocks. They are quilts!
So, I'm done promoting the contest and done complaining about how poorly the contest is being run. I will still vote because you can win prizes just for voting and I will still encourage you to purchase from Accuquilt because I think they are a great company, but I think they should get out of the contest business and stick to what they do best. That is make and sell great fabric cutting tools. They should leave the contests to someone who knows what they are doing. Like the lottery. Where you know if you buy a ticket, you aren't going to win. That way, you aren't disappointed if you don't win.
Now, I will get back to making quilts. I've wasted too much time and energy on this whole thing anyways. Besides, what would I have done with $22,000 worth of quilting supplies? I've been blessed with enough and I hope the winner uses all of that to bless others and share the wealth.

I hear you! It seems to be a popularity contest as opposed to best design wins! But like you, I will vote each day, and I will vote for the underdogs, the ones that I feel have a great quilt design!
I have to agree with you. I don't have Accuguilt nor am I likely to buy it because I prefer to quilt quilts over piecing them. I did not participate in creating a block for this contest either. What I hate is when you try to go through all the thumbnails by blowing them up and hitting the forward arrow, some of the blocks keep coming up over and over again! They do suck at running a contest and if they want to continue to do contests, they need to let someone else run it right.
